Kit and Peter were traveling to London and then they stopped at an inn, in the country.Kit and Peters horses were very well groomed and that attracted a lot of attention. They asked the manager to directed them to a near by town. They specifically told them to avoided the Virgin Mine, because they were a lot of bandits, that would steel there well groomed horses. When they arrived to Virgin Mine they met a begger at was at the inn. He and his friends had a plan to attract Peter and Kit. They did and the stold their horses and they planed at kill Peter and Kit by pushing them into a hole. As they were going to Sir Phillip arrived and stopped them. Sir Philip chased the beggar’s and ignored Peter and Kit.
Chapter 23 (A.N. ):
In this chapter Peter and Kit are running from Sir Phillip who they have just seen behind them. Sir Phillip is stopping the men who stole Kit and Peter’s horses. Sir Phillip didn’t see Kit and Peter so the two children decide to run away.
When Peter and Kit arrive in a forest they rest a while. Suddenly they hear some noises. Peter goes to see who it is and discovers that it’s Mr. Desmond and his company. Mr. Desmond decides to help the children just in case Sir Phillip comes. The actors all dress up in warrior costumes and Kit and Peter pretend to be tied together. When Sir Phillip arrives, Mr. Desmond tells him “I command merely an advance-guard detachment of the army.” Then Mr. Desmond tells Sir Phillip that he’s under arrest. Sir Phillip believes him so Peter and Kit have the chance to run. Sir Phillip sees Kit and is completely appalled that she is there. Mr. Desmond tells Peter and Kit that the play has been moved up by two days. Peter and Kit leave to try and save the queen.
Chapter 24-25 (M.M. ):
This chapter starts off with Carpenters making the set for Shakespeare's play. The queen walks in when they are finished so the play begins. One man in the play, Somers, was planning on killing the queen during the play. He doesn’t have the guts to do this so the play goes on as expected. Somers misses his cue to kill the queen that is why the chapter is called "A Cue Was Missed". At the end of the play the queen is thrilled. She enjoyed the play and she is safe. After the play Sir Phillip and the other conspirators were caught and arrested. The queen thanks Kit and Peter for saving her from the conspirators and warning her about their plot. To thank them, she takes guardianship of Kit for two years. Peter and Kit no longer need to run and hide from anybody and they are happy. At the end of chapter 25 they get married and have three children.
